On a beaming summer day, I had the pleasure to witness and photograph my friend Elaine & Owen's wedding at the beautiful rose garden of University of British Columbia, where the couple had first met each other 10 years ago. Elaine & Owen both wanted a simple and intimate celebration with family and close friends. They invited and trusted me to document these memorable moments. Here is the story of their special day.
The day started with joining Elaine at her home in UBC as she zealously and calmy dressed up for the ceremony. Then we headed for the rose garden where the couple, surrounded by love and joy from their family and friends, exchanged vows and tied knots. Despite the sweltering heat, the view of the garden's lush greenery against the backdrop of ocean and nearby island is picturesque.
The wedding reception took place at the nearby Sage restaurant right after the ceremony. Owen has always been a music enthusiast and the couple surprised us with two little performances of their favourite songs. I remember thinking that the two look so cute together and they haven't changed a bit since when I first known them. After the reception, some of us gathered at the comfort of Owen & Elaine's apartment for chats and gifts opening. When the day concluded, the setting sun rays through the shutters lighted up the smiles on the group's faces.
